Project title: Development of an IT platform for the storage, analysis and interpretation of genomic data of pediatric malignant tumors

Period: 01.01.2026. – 31.12.2026.

BMC Contract Registration No. 8-4/PRL/25/31

Project costs: 60 000,00 EUR

Principal Investigator in BMC: Dr. biol. Monta Brīvība

Cooperation partner: Latvian Biomedical Research and Study Centre, Foundation “Children’s Hospital Foundation”

Project summary:

The project aims to improve the digital platform and provide a standardized bioinformatics workflow for the storage, pre-processing, interpretation and reporting of pediatric malignancy genome sequencing data, ensuring rapid access to multi-level datasets and their integration with clinical data.

Progress of the project

1 January 2026 – 31 March 2026

Within the project, in addition to the analyses performed previously, genome and transcriptome data analysis of pediatric cancer patients has continued during the reporting period. The data analysis pipeline has been enhanced with a more accurate ploidy detection tool. In addition, gene network analysis based on transcriptome data has been carried out for a subset of patients. The analysis of newly sequenced data, preparation of individual reports, and aggregation for cohort characterization are ongoing.
